We have fabrication facilities in California, Nevada, and Oregon. We make hero cans from a solid billet of 6061 aircraft aluminum with an extra thick wall so the cans cannot be dented by talent abusing them during a shoot. The cans have threaded inserts for the lids. They can be opened in a shot and just by quickly threading in a new insert the can is back to the factory sealed can look. We have cans that can be pressurized so you can get a can opening shot with some spray and vapor happening if needed.
We make several types of bottles for our clients. We make our hero optical grade glass bottles from a very high grade of optical glass that allows more light transmission than the standard soda lime glass used for bottle manufacturing. That allows more light into the product which is very noticeable on film. We also have various ways to lightly frost a bottle to make it look colder and we have our own proprietary hydrophobic coatings to give the bottle just the right condensation pattern whether it’s metal, glass or plastic.
Attention to Detail
We work closely with color correction companies on the creation of the labels for the product as well. That includes picking the right stock for the label, choosing the right pigments and selecting the proper adhesive for the backing of the labels. If a label is going to get wet either by condensation application or complete submersion in water and the client uses a paper label on their product, then that can be a disaster in the making. We will work with the color correction company to find a new material stock that is waterproof and still looks like the paper label and use an alcohol based adhesive for the label so that the label and the adhesive will be unaffected by moisture.
Details matter. We take into account what will be needed for the environment that the product will be subjected to. As examples… Ultimate Adhesion, U.V. Resistance, Solvent Resistance, Mandrel Hold (How well the label adhesive holds up to a curved or tight radius surface), Cold Flow (the ability to bond to a container at below normal temperatures) and Service Temperature Range if the product will be subjected to ice or excessive heat from lighting.
SPECIAL EFFECTS RIGGING
We design and fabricate effects rigging for the products shots as well. We specialize in high speed liquid effects from single drops to pours and cascading liquid to splashes and water curtains and even cymatics (waves and patterns in liquid created by sound).
If there is a shot that needs a close up of a liquid hitting the bottom of the glass and swirling around we can fabricate or supply the right shape glass with the physical and optical properties needed for that shot and the proper pour vessel to deliver the desired liquid effect.
We can supply or fabricate rigging for liquid streams colliding in mid air, products piercing the veil of a waterfall, streams, splashes and sprays that are controlled to durations of hundredths of a second for high speed filming using digital event timers.
We can apply the physics and do the math to determine the triggering needed for the event circuit and the duration of the event for the specific frame rate. Whether your shooting at 60fps or 12,000 fps we’ve got you covered.
