BARRY CONNER

Barry has been in the commercial television and print world since 1973. Having a strong background in chemistry, physics, mechanical design and fabrication, he started specializing in beer and beverage product filming in 1976. He started a special effects company for product effects rigging in 1977 and expanded that effects company to include general special effects and high speed film effects rigging in 1986. Since then the emphasis has been on beverage styling, fabrication of hero optical grade bottles and dent proof heavy wall hero photo cans. Dragonfly also developed formulas for making the head last longer on a beer, formulas for different coatings of hydrophobic solutions for creating the ideal condensation pattern on various types of metals, glass and plastic. In addition we fabricate effects rigs for liquid pouring, splashes, waterfalls, collisions, waves and cymatics.

KAL SWAN

Kal has worked in the entertainment industry for over 30 years. Kal graduated from North Warwickshire School of Art with a degree in graphic design. The Scottish art school graduate pursued a career in the music industry and was a touring musician before entering the film business in the early nineties. One of his early mentors, Gary D’Amico of POV Special Effects, trained Kal as a prop maker and pyrotechnic operator. Kal is a licensed pyrotechnic operator in the state of California. He is a PADI certified dive-master and has worked as a safety diver and rigger for many years with artists such as Bill Voila. Kal has extensive experience with all types of underwater rigging. Kal joined up with Dragonfly Films in 2008 and has been instrumental in its expansion to where it is now. He uses his artistic skill set to enhance his work in mechanical design and fabrication. Kal and Barry’s partnership is truly a fusion of art & science.

We have been working with one of our clients; Constellation Brands, who own Corona Beer for over 20 years. As they have grown, we have grown along with them. We have expanded our talent base to create several teams that can travel anywhere in the world with specifically designed travel kits. This way, they have everything they need when they arrive on location. Dragonfly handles all travel and shipping logistics in house and are not reliant on the production company for anything other than a call time and a location. We now have local crews in several countries that we work with so we can reduce the travel costs for personnel traveling from the U.S.
